Restricted gifts designated for a particular purpose, interest, or organization are administered in accordance with the donors’ wishes.
Bequests made to the Foundation may be unrestricted or restricted in nature.
All donations are tax deductible.
An individual contemplating a gift to the Foundation should seek the advice of his or her attorney or tax advisor.
I make regular donations to local
charities. Why should I give to
The Killingworth Foundation?
Gifts to the Foundation will receive the
same able management, the same continuity
of administration, and the same kind of
research and oversight as a large trust fund
would provide. The Foundation will monitor
the changing needs of the community and
adapt its grants accordingly.
Can the Foundation help me endow
an academic scholarship for study
in a particular field?
The Killingworth Foundation is the ideal
trustee of a scholarship for study in a specific
field but not limited to a particular school.
The Foundation will accept applications from
prospective students and make grants to the
institutions the students choose to attend.
Can I leave some of my estate
to the Town of Killingworth?
If you wish to bequeath a portion of
your assets for the general benefit of the
people of Killingworth, The Killingworth
Foundation offers the ideal vehicle to
carry out your intentions in perpetuity.
If the purpose designated by a donor
becomes impractical or impossible to
fulfill, the Directors will allocate the
funds to a similar but current public use.
Can I designate my gift for a
particular agency?
Certainly. Although most donors to the
Foundation will probably make unrestricted
gifts, the Foundation welcomes contributions
dedicated to local organizations and will exercise
due diligence in distributing those funds.
Will The Killingworth Foundation
compete with other town agencies?
No. The Killingworth Foundation will enhance
public support for these agencies, and agencies
that currently bear the burden of managing
small funds can arrange to have those funds
administered by the Foundation.
