Foundation News
The Killingworth Foundation launched its fourth annual appeal in November. New brochures, underwritten by a grant from the Guilford Savings Bank and highlighting some of our grant awards, were included in the mailing.

We also distributed “The Killingworth Foundation Media Information Guide” for Killingworth’s nonprofit organizations. This handbook was designed to help our town’s nonprofits get their information about events and fundraisers out to the public. It introduces local media outlets, tells how to access them, and lists their specific guidelines and time frames.

As we begin our fifth year, we continue to seek timely and relevant ways to support the quality of life in our Killingworth community. Annual appeal funds have supported grants to our library, the Historical Society, and the Community Gardens. They have also provided funds for high school senior achievement awards and summer youth program scholarships.

Achievement Awards and Scholarship application announcements go out in January to our high schools with a March 1 deadline for mailing completed applications to the Foundation. Our next grant application deadline is May 1st. And in looking to the future, we are planning our first legacy informational evening event this spring.

There is great potential for future grant giving as our endowment grows. Building the Foundation is a long term endeavor to which, as neighbors, we can all contribute and from which, as a community, we will all benefit.
